Services Offered
We offer a range of commemorative tree planting services, from celebrating a significant milestone through to remembering loved ones. We understand the importance of what it means to plant a commemorative tree and will always work with you to achieve the best possible experience.
As all plantings are bespoke, costs are determined as required.
Commemorative Tree - Private Residence
We plant a native tree(s) on your private property to celebrate a significant milestone, to honour the loss of a loved one or pet, if you've been ordered to replace a tree that has been removed, you want help to plant a new tree, or whatever the reason may be!
Because every planting service is unique and tailored to your needs, a bespoke quote will be drafted before any work can commence.
Once agreed, all you need to do is decide on the location, then we'll provide everything required and dig the hole the old fashioned way, so you can relax and be in the moment.
You can choose from the following inclusions for your commemorative event:
Native trees, shrubs, or grasses (or multiple)
Dependant on availability, for our standard services we aim to plant trees and shrubs that are on average between 30-60cm (knee height)
Larger more established plants can be requested, and if available, will be provided for additional cost
Native fertiliser pellets for soil
Woodchip mulch
Tree guard (various sizes) - Biodegradable cardboard is preferred but corflute is available in larger sizes of required
Hardwood stakes (various sizes) - Biodegradable mesh for stabilisation can be installed for taller plants
Tree planting 'gifting' certificate for birthdays can be generated to give to the lucky recipient before a planting date is established
Tree planting 'thank you' keepsake certificate can be generated after your service using pictures from the event
Informal ceremony - We can incorporate a short ceremony in any way you need for your special event. Whether it's taking a moment to reflect, writing a note to be put in under the roots, or coordinating some kind words, we're here to support you with a positive experience.
Where we can, we love having the kids help with adding the fertiliser, mixing in dirt, installing the tree guards, and we encourage everyone to help with watering in your new tree afterwards. We'll provide some bottles of water but you're welcome to bring your own bottle or a watering can for this part!
It really is all about creating positive memories to commemorate a special moment, however that looks for you.
A standard package with a tree, biodegradable tree guard, fertiliser and installation is $90+GST. Please use the contact us page to enquire about a tailored package to fit your needs
Commemorative Tree - In The Community
As you can imagine, you can't just plant trees wherever you like in public spaces. In the ACT, planting a tree in a public space requires specific ACT Government approval.
That doesn't mean it's not possible, it just means there is a lot more paperwork to be signed off before a tree can be planted, and this is where we can help.
For some of our customers in the past, we have applied to the ACT Government to plant commemorative native trees on public land within the community.
For this process we work with you to determine a suitable location, put all the details together in an application, and submit this on your behalf.
We provide additional information if there are any follow-ups and once fully approved, we can provide the options available under the 'Commemorative Tree - Private Residence' tab.
PLEASE NOTE:
AS THIS REQUIRES ACT GOVERNMENT APPROVALS, TREASURED TREES REQUESTS THAT YOU PROVIDE A MINIMUM TIMEFRAME OF 90 DAYS IN ADVANCE YOUR EVENT TO COORDINATE THE APPROVALS.

Treasured Trees Canberra is a local, family-owned micro business with a big heart. We're passionate about planting native trees to help make the Canberra region greener, wilder, and more beautiful — one tree at a time.
I'm Ben, and together with my enthusiastic Mini-Helper, we started this venture as a way to do something meaningful for both the environment and our community. We believe planting a tree can be more than just an act of sustainability — it can be a deeply personal way to celebrate life, honour a memory, or mark a special occasion.
We offer a variety of commemorative tree planting options for individuals, families, and organisations. Whether it’s in memory of a loved one or to celebrate a new beginning, we’re here to help you grow something that lasts.
We’re also working on community projects that people and businesses can get behind — and we love volunteering with local Landcare groups and ACT Government planting initiatives whenever we can.
All of our trees are native species sourced locally, and we’re committed to using biodegradable, environmentally-friendly materials. Most importantly, we take the time to understand what our customers are after and aim to create a warm, positive experience from start to finish.

Callistemon Propegation Project Jun 2025
In December 2023 I watched a YouTube video on how to propagate Callistemon - or Bottlebrush - trees from cuttings ✂️, and I have successfully stuck about 6 new plants since then, lost about 20 too though.
On 1 June 2025 I took a branch cutting from the big tree in my backyard and made 17 potential new plants, I tried a bunch of different thicknesses and made up 4 with my homemade composted soil, hopefully they all survive though! I use a mix of components I had sitting around: bag potting mix, bag compost, homemade compost and some topsoil. I use hardwood rooting hormone too and find the dome shape from a cut-off Pepsi bottle is perfect size on a 180×170mm pot, filled about half way up. Place in a bright indirect sunlit position and I water as needed but the domes do most of the watering and keep them warm from the elements.
I'll do some updates in Spring as they take about 3 months before you know if they've survived.

On private land we will discuss options with the customer, because we don't need approvals, a tree can be planted anywhere.
On public land, we need to ensure approvals by the relevant authority is in place before trees can be planted. In this case we work with the customer to find a general area for the tree before seeking approval.
The best way to achieve this is to fill out the contact us link, and provide details of what you're considering, then we will work with you to determine the best way to support you and your business.
No funding is too big or too small and we will always do our best to cater for any size budget.
